Petition for the release of blogger and activist Shiva Nazar Ahari

His Excellency Ayatollah Sadegh Ardeshir Larijani Head of the Judiciary,
His Excellency Mohammad Javad Ardeshir Larijani,

Ms. Shiva Nazar Ahari is a blogger and a member of the Committee of Human Rights Reporters (CHHR). She was arrested for the second time in 2009 on 20th December 2009, and has been in prison since then.
She has been charged with three crimes: assembly and collusion to commit a crime, propagating against the regime and, the heaviest charge of all, „Moharebeh“ („enmity with god“).
These charges are unfounded, as Ms. Shiva Nazar Ahari has only exercised her rights to freedom of expression and association. Exercising these rights is by no means illegal, nor going against the Quran.

We ask you to release Ms. Shiva Nazar Ahari immediately and unconditionally.

We also would like to remind you that collecting and publishing information about human rights violations is a right guaranteed under Article 19(2) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which Iran signed. This includes “the freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of... choice”.
We also would like you to ensure that, while imprisoned, Ms. Shiva Nazar Ahari is granted access to her family, her lawyer and adequate medical care.

The reports cover most units from the US Army with the exception of most US Special Forces' activities. The reports do not generally cover top secret operations or European and other ISAF Forces operations.

We have delayed the release of some 15,000 reports from the total archive as part of a harm minimization process demanded by our source. After further review, these reports will be released, with occasional redactions, and eventually in full, as the security situation in Afghanistan permits.

The data is provided in HTML (web), CSV (comma-separated values) and SQL (database) formats, and was rendered into KML (Keyhole Markup Language) mapping data that can be used with Google Earth. Please note that the checksums will change.
